Prevention and social responsibility to build excellence
Some reflections are derived from recent studies conducted by the National Institute for Safety and Health at Work (INSHT) in a sample of over 60 excellent companies and directed by the writer of this article, on the link of Occupational hazards prevention to the Social Responsibility policy, and how this contributes to consolidate their successes.

Industrial engineer and architect from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. Master in Chemical Engineering of oil and petrochemistry by the French Oil Institute. He is a civil servant at the National Institute for Safety and Health at Work since 1973, where he has held various positions at the National Center of Working Conditions. Since 2010, he is a management technical counselor. He has been head of the Spanish cooperation in labor and social policy in Uruguay (1984-1987) and has developed programs for international cooperation on Occupational hazards prevention in Latin America and Europe. He has been a consultant to the International Labor Organization and the Inter-American Development Bank. He specializes in workplace safety and prevention management, and he has written a hundred publications. He conducts research and training programs linking the prevention of occupational risks to social responsibility, excellence and improving competitiveness. He manages the training program for auditors in INSHT prevention systems. He is a collaborator teacher in the master's degree of Prevention of occupational hazards at the UOC.
