People in the Supply Chain: 19 years of research
Human Resources Management (HRM) with a focus on Supply Chain Management (SCM) empowers companies to effectively manage their supply chains. This article justifies the importance of the study of Human Resources in the Supply Chain (HRSC) and provides an in-depth analysis of research in these two fields, which reveals their potentialities and shortcomings. Thus, the thematic areas addressed have been identified, as well as their main contributions and the existence of gaps in the literature. From the analysis, 53 publications have been identified that highlight the potential of HRSC. The results show that, in the last four (4) years between 2012 and 2017, there has been a significant increase of 49% in HRSC research.

PhD in Business from the Universitat de Barcelona (UB), she received the Extraordinary UB Doctoral Award 2015/2016 for her thesis entitled “The impact of human resources on supply chain management”. As well as her industrial engineering diploma, she has a Master in Supply Chain and Logistics (EAE - Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Barcelona), a Master in Business Research (Universitat de Barcelona), and a Postgraduate Degree in Human Resources (USMA). She currently works as a lecturer and researcher at the Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá (UTP) and is a member of Panama’s National Research System (SNI).
PhD in Economic and Business Sciences from the Universitat de Barcelona and an Industrial Engineering Diploma from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. She has been a lecturer in the Business Department at the Universitat de Barcelona since 1994. As a researcher, her work has been published in internationally renowned academic journals (such as Industrial Management and Data Systems; International Journal of Market Research; Technology, Analysis & Strategic Management; and Innovation: Management Policy & Practice) and she has taken part in a range of tendered projects (run and financed by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Fundación Española para la Ciencia y la Tecnología (FECYT), or the Catalan Government). She is the lead researcher in the G·IDEA Teaching Research Groups (http://www.ub.edu/gidea/), recognised by the Universitat de Barcelona.
Undergraduate in Industrial Production Management at the Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá. She is currently working on her Bachelor’s Thesis entitled “Theoretical model for measuring the impact of human resources in the supply chain: The case of Panama”. In addition, she is studying Industrial Engineering at the Universidad Latina de Panamá, currently in her eighth term.
