Digital transformation and strategies for diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI): a sustainable management approach
This article discusses the importance of designing and implementing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) strategies rooted in sustainability principles to address new work environments significantly impacted by digital transformation. By studying several successful cases, key aspects that should be included in these strategies are identified, highlighting the relevance of conducting actions aimed at ensuring true inclusion of individuals, which are sustainable while leveraging the opportunities presented by digitization. Although the findings indicate substantial progress in this area, the business reality still provides opportunities for improvement to enhance the valuation and representation of all individuals within their work environments.

Associate professor in the Department of Business Organization at the University of Cadiz (UCA), she focuses her research interests on the diversity of human capital of head management teams, the formulation of human resource strategies, the management of intellectual capital in academia, and the exploration of social capital and complex research networks. She defended her doctoral thesis in 2013, earning the cum laude distinction and the designation of European PhD. She has completed a research placement at Kingston University in London as a visiting professor and currently supervises four doctoral theses as well as a research project awarded through a competitive grant. The findings from her research over the years have been published in high-impact journals, including the Journal of Intellectual Capital, Research Policy and European Management Journal.

Doctor in Business Organization from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC, 2009) and Bachelor of Science in Market Research and Techniques from the University of Barcelona (UB, 1999). In 1996, she received a scholarship from UB to study for one year at La Trobe University (Australia). She is accredited by the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA) as a doctoral teacher. Since 2000, she has worked as a business creation technologist at Barcelona Activa and later at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) for ten years. In 2015, she co-chaired the Chair of Responsible Tourism and Hospitality at Ramon Llull University (URL), and until July 2020, she was a teacher at the School of Tourism. She also led social innovation research projects with companies and organizations such as Vueling, Aena, TMB, Ferrocarriles de la Generalitat de Cataluña (railway), CosmoCaixa, the Barcelona Provincial Council, the Girona Provincial Council, and the Gran Teatro del Liceo de Barcelona, among others. She is currently a professor in the Studies of Economics and Business, where she teaches marketing, business organization, and tourism. She has been a member of the i2TIC-UOC research group since 2010; she was a contracted teacher in 2005 and a consultant on the subject of Business Creation since 2010. Her research scope includes inclusive design and co-creation of inclusive experiences for people with disabilities, and she has published in various high-impact international journals related to functional diversity.
